Director of Music
Approximately 10-15 hours weekly; paid monthly
Reports to: Senior Pastor
Effective: 3/1/2025
Directly Supervises: None
Status: Part-Time
FLSA: Exempt
Salary Range: $19,500 - $23,400/year, commensurate with experience
Job Summary:
Facilitates exemplary worship experiences for Faith United Methodist Church’s members and visitors by working with pastoral staff and worship design team to select liturgical settings, traditional and contemporary music for sanctuary choir and praise band, coordinates other musical groups, and rehearses musicians in anticipation of Sunday services.
Required Qualifications:
Experience as a director of music or worship or related field, audition required
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in music, church music, or related field
Proficient in both contemporary and traditional sacred music genres
Experience in leading praise bands
Essential Functions:
Partners with pastoral staff and worship design team to choose liturgical setting with concern for the church calendar year
Chooses and purchases appropriate traditional and contemporary vocal and instrumental music for worship services; manages the music department budget
Rehearses sanctuary choir and praise band weekly
Manages music libraries; consults on purchase of new equipment that affects the worship or music experience at Faith
Attends weekly staff meeting; provides musical leadership as it pertains to the congregation
Familiarity with Google Suite
Organize special music for worship services as needed
Ability to communicate effectively with staff, musical groups, and congregation
Supports other ministry activities at the request of pastoral staff
Provides written communication in a timely fashion as requested by pastoral staff
Physical Requirements: Light work: occasionally lift 11-25 pounds; frequently lift 1-10 pounds; constantly negligible weight.
