Operating Pledge 2019

“To God Be the Glory!”

Dear Friends,

Our stewardship campaign for the coming year invites us to praise God and “let the people rejoice.”  Our theme is “To God Be the Glory!”, from the hymn by Fanny Crosby.  Over four Sundays, we glorify God in a variety of ways:

“Laity Lowdown”     On October 7, our Lay Leader, Janet Johnson, addressed the vital nature of our connection to Christ’s church in “Our Faith is Everything.”  She particularly focused on the importance of Faith UMC to the life of her family.  Deb Anderson, Pam Pettit, and Tom Campbell provided additional lay leadership during worship, along with musical leadership by Jo Halvorsen, Marie Kuglin, and our Sanctuary Choir.

“Celebration Commotion”     On October 14, people were invited to share ways in which they have witnessed our congregation being generous with each other, with our community, and with the world, as we recounted “Faith’s Generous Year.”  Twelve people enthusiastically spoke up!  Our worship concluded with Holy Communion as we celebrated discovering, connecting, and making a difference in God’s world.

“Gorgeous Giving”     On October 21, we will focus on “Ministry that Makes a Difference.”  What ministries are enabled when we give to the church?  We’ll name many of those ways.  One ministry, for example, is the gift of an age-appropriate Bible to children in 2nd grade and youth in Confirmation Class; second-graders will receive their Bible this Sunday as part of ministry that makes a difference.  What a great way to give the good news of God’s love!

“Jesus Jubilation”     October 28 is our joyful Pledge Sunday.  To conclude the stewardship campaign, we are all invited to make an Estimate of Giving for 2019.  We’ll reflect on the joy we find in our faith and in commitment to Faith UMC.  Come and experience “The Joy of Giving” as we hear about the divine love God awakens in us.

“Make love your aim,” we read in 1 Corinthians14:1.  And from 2 Corinthians 9:8, “God has the power to provide you with more than enough of every kind of grace.  That way, you will have everything you need always and in everything to provide more than enough for every kind of good work.”

Please use the enclosed Estimate of Giving card to indicate the financial gifts you anticipate giving in 2019.  Bring your completed card to worship on October 28 as we celebrate with our Estimate of Giving offering.  (Cards can also be placed in the offering plate on any other Sunday, mailed or brought to the church office, or completed on-line at www.faithumchurch.com)

Together we rejoice and praise God by declaring:  “To God Be the Glory!

      In Christ,
