Kings, Queens, & In-Betweens

Kings, Queens & In-Betweens

Faith UMC became a Reconciling Congregation in March 2011.  Many of us know gay, lesbian, bisexual and/or trans individuals.  We've learned about sexual orientation and gender identity.  But when we hear "drag" we may think "That's something that happens on Hennepin Avenue, I don't think I'm interested in 'going there'."  The Faith Outreach Committee is offering you a chance to "go there".  "Kings, Queens & In-Betweens" is a documentary film about gender, identity and humanity.  This happens through the compelling stories of eight drag performers and their troupes, located in Columbus, Ohio.  The performers talk about their gender identity, sexual orientation, how they came to drag and why they like performing drag.  In addition to the interviews, there is footage of them preparing for drag performances and clips of performances.  One of the interviewees said "Freedom of drag - I don't have to be a man, I don't have to be a woman, I can just"
If would like to open a window into your understanding of gender, please join us in the following ways:
