Ministry Description: Director of Family Ministry

Purpose: The director of family ministries will provide dynamic leadership and oversight to the faith formation and community building programs for families as a part of the ministries of Faith UMC; helping children, youth, and parents to grow in their faith, receive support in their lives, and provide connections between families and the congregation.
This is a part-time position, 16-20 hours per week, with semi-negotiable work hours.
This position does not provide benefits beyond salary and continuing education funding. 

Essential Functions:
  • Work with Lead Pastor to create and communicate a vision for family ministries at Faith
  • Oversee Sunday morning faith formation activities for children through 5th grade.
  • Work with administrative staff to maintain a database of families who are involved in Faith UMC and how they have connected with programs offered by the church.
  • Promote the inclusion and involvement of families in the life of the church
  • Recruit and train the volunteers (including background checks) needed for family ministry programming and events.

Other Responsibilities:
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings
  • Participate in Sunday morning worship and programming
  • Network with other churches and participate in Conference events for faith formation
  • Work with the Lead Pastor to make sure that children and youth are involved in worship Work with the Outreach Team to create dynamic cooperative Outreach - Cards for Valentines cookie trays to homebound members. Decorated bags for Meals on Wheels. Birthday bags. Christmas in July, etc.
