We welcome Korean United Methodist Church

Do you remember the story of our church and the 1984 tornado?  Our building was so severely damaged that we needed a building to temporarily house us for worship and activities until we rebuilt.  It was Community UMC in Columbia Heights that offered us welcome in Christ’s name.  We now have the opportunity to pay that Radical Hospitality forward.

We are welcoming Korean United Methodist Church and Pastor Shin to Faith UMC!  The Korean UMC has sold its building at 701 8th Avenue NW, New Brighton, and the congregation will be sharing our building while searching for a new building to purchase.  The building it has owned for 30 years is a former elementary school which has become unsustainable to heat and maintain.

The Faith UMC schedule will not change, because this is a temporary arrangement, not a merging of two congregations within one building.  Korean UMC is altering its Sunday worship service time so that it will begin worship at 12:30 p.m. in the sanctuary, followed by lunch in the Fellowship Hall and then various church meetings.  Also, a small worship service will be held at 9 a.m. Sunday morning in Room 121.

Invitations have been extended for Korean UMC to participate in Faith UMC worship and events and for Faith UMC to participate in Korean UMC worship and events.  We are sure to find some ways to be in ministry together.  Let us welcome our sisters and brothers in Christ!
