Eco-Kids Camp: River of Life

Eco Kids Class

Eco-Kids Camp will take place August 7-11, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and a half day on Friday. This camp is for all children entering grades 3-6 and will be held at our sister church, Northeast UMC.

The theme for camp this year is Trees Please! We will be exploring the amazing life of trees through field trips, hands-on science and the arts. The cost is $75 per camper. Full or partial scholarships are available.

You can help by inviting families that you know, especially families in St. Anthony, New Brighton, northeast Minneapolis and Columbia Heights. We will also need youth and adult volunteers to lead activities, serve as camp counselors, take photos and/or video, and help with various tasks at camp.

If you would like to volunteer for camp, please attend one of two orientation/planning meetings. These meetings will be held at Northeast United Methodist Church  (2510 Cleveland St NE) at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 7 and 7 p.m. Monday, March 13.

We will talk about the theme of camp, review of best practices for managing the classroom and make plans for the content of camp sessions. Please come! This is a great way to get to know some of the children and the families in our community, help create the world we want to see, and learn something new about trees.

News at Faith

At an all-church meeting on February 11, the congregation of Faith UMC voted overwhelmingly to become an Altar for All church, which means that the church will welcome, honor and celebrate the wedding of any prepared couple who seek to commit their lives to one another in marriage.

During Lent, Faith UMC members gather with the congregations of Community UMC of Columbia Heights and Northeast UMC of northeast Minneapolis for joint Wednesday night services. A soup supper is served at 5:30 p.m., followed by worship at 6:15 p.m. Also, Faith UMC will have special services during Holy Week and Easter, April 1.

Several options are available for a study of the book Surprise the World, by Michael Frost. They include Tuesday mornings, Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings.

Faith UMC prepares and serves a community meal at Northeast UMC on the third Saturday of the month. The next dates are February 17 and March 17.
