Our 125th Anniversary

2017 is our quasquicentennial year. We are celebrating 125 years as a congregation! Here are some special events through the end of 2017.

  • Bishop Bruce Ough will preach on October 15.
  • District Superintendent Rev. Dan Johnson will preach on November 19.
  • Our concluding anniversary celebration will be in December.

In addition, two new resources will be available early this fall: The Faith UMC history booklet and supplement, and an enhanced DVD of the April 30 Pastors Sunday, when former pastors were with us to celebrate our 125th anniversary as a congregation.

Our congregation began as Second Swedish Methodist Episcopal Church of Minneapolis in 1892. In 1913 the church was renamed Ebenezer. In 1955, the congregation moved to St. Anthony Village. The name was changed to Faith in 1956, and the first service was held in our new building in 1957. We have a lot to celebrate!

Faith UMC will have special services during Holy Week, including two services on Easter Sunday, April 1, at 9 and 10:30 a.m.


Children entering grade 3-6 are invited to join us for our Eco-Kids Day Camp, Monday through Thursday August 6-9, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Easter Eggstravaganza for all ages. Saturday, March 31, 2:30-4:30 pm. Come prepare for the celebration of Easter. We will explore the meaning of Easter as we dye Easter eggs.

At an all-church meeting on February 11, the congregation of Faith UMC voted overwhelmingly to become an Altar for All church, which means that the church will welcome, honor and celebrate the wedding of any prepared couple who seek to commit their lives to one another in marriage.
